Tampa, FL (PRWeb) January 25, 2007 — PC Media, Inc., a Florida-based internet development company, has launched www.PCMechTV.com , a new resource for online videos and podcasts dealing with technology and personal computing.

"Online video is a natural evolution of the web today and it communicates to people in ways the written word cannot," says David Risley, Founder/CEO of PC Media, Inc. "By launching a new branch of our PCMech site to deal exclusively with audio and video content, we hope that we can provide a compelling format to show people around their PCs in ways not done before."

PC Media made a name for itself with PC Mechanic (www.pcmech.com), a site dedicated to today’s personal computers. PC Mechanic, commonly referred to simply as "PCMech", currently serves an audience of over 300,000 people per month, with about 1.2 million page views monthly. PCMech made a strong name for itself with the Build Your Own PC tutorial, showing people how to build and assemble their own computer.

Online video has risen sharply in popularity, as evidenced by sites like Youtube.com. The high use of broadband and the penetration of the Flash plug-in has also made access to such video very easy for internet consumers. This arena is projected to grow from $1.3 billion in revenue last year to more than $7 billion by 2010, according to the market research firm Parks Associates. As internet businesses work to figure out the potential business model for online video, PC Media is moving forward to provide useful video tutorials for PC users.

"The internet is a very fast moving medium and businesses come and go all the time", says Risley. "We might not compete with the likes of Youtube.com with the launch of PCMechTV.com, however that’s not the intention. CNET is currently the only major technology media outlet doing online video. Well, now we’re going to get in on it and instead of simply regurgitating the news or reviewing gadgets, we want to provide useful video content that will show people how to make the most of the technology they have."

PCMechTV is also the home of the PC Mechanic Podcast, a weekly podcast aimed at users of the personal computer. The site has RSS feeds available for both videos and podcasts. Both feeds are compliant with any feed reader, including Itunes.
